WINDSOR RESIDENTIAL CENTRE
The Windsor Residential Centre provides services to parents and youth who are experiencing serious conflict. Our services are based on the belief that everyone in the family has a part to play in resolving problems.
The Centre, located in Windsor, provides:
A community support service for youth and their families;
Intensive in-home services for youth and families in crisis;
Short-term (six to twelve months) residential services for female
adolescents;
After care services to insure successful reunification.
Community and In-Home Support
The goal of these programs is to resolve conflicts so that youth can live successfully with their families. Services include supportive counselling for youth, parents, and families, group programs, and intensive in-home support at times of crisis.
Residential Program
The facility, located in a residential area, can accommodate four female adolescents between the ages of twelve and fifteen. The program requires family involvement, attendance at a community school and participation in community activities.
The residential program focuses on strengthening the relationship between the youth and their family (or foster family) in the belief that the shorter the separation, the more successful the reintegration.
After Care
Staff from the Centre provide services to facilitate a successful transition from the Centre to family and community.
Referrals and Eligibility
Referrals are accepted only from child welfare agencies for youth and families on their caseloads. Referrals are not accepted directly from the community.
The program serves male and female youth from the ages of ten to fifteen living with their families or in foster homes. Residential services are restricted to females from the ages of twelve to fifteen.
