Family and Children’s Services is a community agency established in 1913 to serve the children of Hants County and protect them from abuse and neglect.

Family and Children’s Services is a charitable, non-profit agency incorporated under the Children and Family Services Act and funded by the Department of Community Services. It is governed by a Board of Directors selected from the citizens of Hants County.

The agency relies on a staff of professionals including social workers, family support workers and youth workers, community volunteers, and volunteer foster families to provide services.

We believe that every child should grow up in a loving family and a safe community and that everyone in the community must contribute to this goal.

We believe that children do best when they belong to a caring family. Our first objective is to assist their own families to give good care. Only when that is not possible, will we provide care for children through foster families and other residential services, or arrange for their adoption.
